Make best use of your tourist dollar in Taiwan. Here’s how:
1. Buy TWD/ NT – and bring into your Taiwan travel!
Simple Taiwan travel smart: Buy as much Taiwan dollar as you wish, before you fly into Taiwan. Bring your TWD in with you.
You can of course still buy your TWD while in Taiwan for your travel needs.
Be warned: Buying TWD in Taipei, Taiwan will require some efforts and often in less than ideal exchange rates for you tourists!
So bring your TWD tourist dollar into Taiwan with you.

2. Backup your Taiwan travel funds with credit card!

Tour Taiwan with, a few hundreds in value of your local currency.
After some days of traveling in Taiwan and you count your TWD getting insufficient, use your local currency to buy more Taiwan dollar.

Additional tip (for people from the Netherlands or using a Dutch bank): use your bankcard to withdraw money at the ATM. Good rates, only small fee (1 euro, I believe) and ATM’s are available everywhere.

Yes, look for ATMs with logo that matches the logo on your card. 2 fees to note:
1. Your bank will charge U, say, a small 2 – 3% commission on the exchange rate.
2. A few dollars is deducted for using the ATM. Or about 1 Euro (as Kevin mentioned).
