Tofu challenge is on!

Remember the stinky bet? We went sniffing out the smelliest of stinky tofu to try when my wife, myself and 2 nephews went touring Taipei, Taiwan in November.

... Don't judge a stinky tofu stall by the number of its patrons! ...

The boys lost in the first round. Will they win this time?

Stall 2. Chung Li railway station nearby street on Day 4.

Located in the corner along a row of food stalls, this tofu stall was run by a couple. Could the bustling food stalls just steps away explain the lack of patrons at this isolated stall? But still, it was stinky tofu found and we would check it out!

Stinkiness: 3.5 out of 5.

1 being the lowest while 5 being “stinkiest” or most pungent.

Taste: 3.

Though soggy, the deep-fried tofu cubes still tasted okay after train ride from Chung Li to Taipei hotel!

Value: 3.5.

When my wife holding the stinky pack embarked train at Chung Li railway station, a guy pinched his nose and immediately stood up to give up his seat! No, he actually sprang from his seat and bolted away from our group..

Not sure whether to laugh or cry at this – but the free seat was definitely appreciated! ;-)

Bet status..

Honestly, I did not see the feeding frenzy when we returned to our hotel room. While I took my shower in the hotel en-suite bathroom, my wife hurried the boys to eat the packed tofu, so I would be spared from the stench.

The boys gobbled up the cubes – 2 to 3 at a mouthful, releasing a light stench in the hotel room. I had increased the challenge by telling them to eat at least 2 cubes at one go. They really did! Was I to concede defeat and announce I lost the bet? The boys won this round I must say!
