Honeymoon Taipei Day 6. Part 2..

It’s small. It’s stinky. It’s the infamous Taiwanese dish ChouTouFu Stinky Tofu!

The dreaded stench (sorry if it’s aroma to you) effectively drew our attention to a small stall selling a deep-fried small serving version (TWD20).

My wife found enough courage to try - finally, haha! ;-)

If you’ve missed Part 1 of Day 6..

I filmed a quick video of her enjoying her cubes of delight (to her only). In return, she persuaded: “Very nice one, tastes just like Tofu when you bite into it!” Curiously I relented. In nanoseconds of biting into a cube, I spat that little bugger out, “pooey pooey”! Pai seh, JiuFen! Sorry!

JiuFen Town reminded me of a line spoken in one of my favourite war movie - “..because people do live there..”

While exploring the Town, we passed by homes with their occupants watching television, or having their meals.. Up and down the steps we went. Exploring nooks and crannies to see where they led us. The restaurant/ tea joints people were welcoming and friendly.

Service varied from cheerful to lacklustre in the shops we bought souvenirs of glass works, bracelets.. Ate Ah Po’s Mix Sweet Cold Soup (Taro, Potato, Green Tea, Sesame Balls) TWD35. Bought 4 boxes of Pineapple Cakes from LiYi Pastry Shop (TWD180 each box) for families back home..

Back where 7-Eleven was, we boarded the bus showing “RuiFang, Taipei” in its sign. A Japanese group asked and paid for trip all the way to Taipei. We alighted at RuiFang Railway Station where we arrived from.

Bought tickets back to Taipei, then a bottle of Raging Bull and Black Horse Energy Drinks from a kiosk. It was our turn this time - found and woke a guy sleeping in our allocated seats haha!

We packed our return luggage in the Hotel and freshened up before we took Mrt to GongGuan Station.

Asked our way to locate GongGuan Night Market, streets of flatted shops and roadside food stalls. Hoping to wrap up our experience enjoying night market snacks, we went food hunting through about 4 lanes of foodstalls.

In sequence, we ate Fried Chicken Parts, TianBuLa TWD95, Oyster Mee Suah TWD50, Frog Milk Bubble Tea (for wife, not for me! See Day 4 to know why!) TWD20. Shopped for souvenirs and returned to XiMen Station.

Soaking in Taipei nightlife like kids reluctant to go home, we hanged around XiMenDing, spotting Rainbow Hotel, AhZhong’s MianHsien stall.

In a splitting moment, there was a commotion and I quickly captured a funny incident on video. The police has arrived, sending (apparently illegal) roadside hawkers scattering, but only to return minutes later once the patrol car disappeared! Do you want to see that video?

Read on.. 1 more day before we left Taipei! We were not disappointed. U won’t be too..
