Taipei night markets: Next 4 things to look out for!
Have you checked out the 3 things in part 1 of this Taipei travel tip post?
Here are 4 more to add to your fun in the night markets..
4. Busy night market stall with long queues!
Don’t know what to eat in which Taipei night market? When you are in any night market, just follow the local’s lead and join the queues!
Taipei night market tip!
Taipei night market visitors, this is the quickest and easiest way to good-tasting street cuisine! So spot the foods you like to try – and join the queues!
Check back tip #2 in the earlier 3 tips..
Yet this is a rule I do not follow. I often do not expend patience and effort to follow the crowds and queues. But still – try this!
5. The toilets!
When strolling the bustling night market street life, scan above the heads and hustle. Look for an available public washroom: A portable public loo, a restaurant or shop, or designated public washrooms.
I never forget to look out for the public washrooms or toilets. You will never forget too, if you ever needed one and not knowing where to find it!
The Chinese Hokkien dialect has a saying along this idea: When the faeces are in the rear end then only does one look for the toilet.. Don’t say I did not warn you: Just look out for the place for relief – ahead of need! ;-)
6. The street traffic!
What is a street without a bustling traffic of motorized vehicles? In Taipei, this idea rings very true – yes, even in a night market!
Watch out for traffic
Steer clear of night market visitors and operators in scooters, bicycles, even mini vans.
But don’t worry, the traffic will usually steer and stay away from you. Or alert you of their presence before scooting off in a jiffy!
7. An memorable Taipei night market portrait!
Although Taipei night markets are pretty similar, you can still very much tell one from another. Capture this night market essence – in a still snapshot or video clip.
Enrich your Taipei night market visit
Bring home a Taipei tour vivid and memorable. So look for a way to capture the night market culture, such as:
• A closeup of a street food popular in that night market.
• The street hawker in a frenzy of preparing and serving his food.
