Where would our spontaneous search bring us to? We asked three persons for directions.
Knowing we were visitors, the last guy we met told a sad tale and asked for money. We felt sorry but told him: “no thanks”! :-(

Upon checking into Suite 601 level 6, TS Hotel, both of us did a quick room check and showered. Skimmed along the outside lane of XiMenDing for a quick buzz then we flagged down a cab to ShiLin Night Market – in a hurry, again.
... Home away from home? Ta Shun hotel suite. ...
At ShiLin Food Centre two tired souls in lousy appetite took in Oyster Omelette, Shrimp Omelette, and HaoDa Fried Chicken Cutlet (bought but eaten later in Hotel).
After our meal, we explored on to find bulk of stalls selling Squidmeat Soup, Stinky Tofu, and the various Omelettes..
... No time to waste! From Xi Men Ding to Shi Lin night market! ...
I won two toys at ShiLin Night Market games stalls. Strolled around the streetlife then taxied back TS Hotel.

ShiLin Night Market was that much better 15 years ago..
I loved its organised chaos back then! More intense, so much more raw! Now its streetlife looked and felt so subdued and watered-down.
Does this Day 1 recollection read a tad short and even hasty, especially for our very first evening in our honeymoon?
I penned these words here just as we had experienced that first night – we were tired out!
... What's Shi Lin like now? We went checking out.. ...
No thanks to a 4-hours++ flight in a tight-spaced plane passing through air turbulence + more than an hour’s ride in snail-paced traffic in an old, damp-smelling bus + perspiring and finding our way on foot with luggage in tow from Taipei Main Station to TS Hotel near XiMenDing.. Phew!
... Wrapping up our first night. But could we sleep soon? ...
Exhilarated but really fatigued, we finally slept at 2am in the morning..
