A travel bag for our Taipei touring needs!
For this Taipei trip in November, we will be bringing along a unisex casual messenger sling bag. To be used as both our hand-carry bag, as well as the bag we tour the 8 days with.
Here is our travel bag when we tour* Taipei. It carries all the items we felt that empower us to enjoy the touring, but address our concerns for safety and well-being as well!
What do you bring along in your travel bag? What stuff powers your travel?
* Travel alert:
Please note: When this bag is used as hand-carry luggage for checking in at the airport, it will contain less items than those listed here, as items such as the emergency belt cutter torchlight may be prohibited at airport security.
Items in order of importance
1. Passports of all travellers. There is a also a photocopy of our passports in 1 main luggage.
2. Our ultra-portable mini medicine (tin box) kit containing small quantities of essential oral medicines. From medicine for relieving pain, allergies to traveller’s stomach disorders..
3. Tissue paper packs. Mainly for toilet needs.
4. Pen and notebook to capture ideas and notes – whenever inspired!
5. A mini umbrella. One that is ultra-light, ultra-strong, wind and sun sheltering.
6. Small bottle of mineral or plain boiled water.
7. Extra AA-sized batteries – both rechargeable and use-then-throw ones, for digital camera (and torchlight if need be).
8. Mentolated cream 1 small tube. For relieving pain, itch, soothing skin rash (I hate heat rash!) and other skin ailments.
9. Multifunctional emergency torchlight with lamp, blinking alert light, seat belt cutter and glass hammer! Cool tool!
10. Handy calculator for thinking work, and figuring money matters like when making purchases..
11. Handy mini tripod for digital camera. Using this, we have been able to capture many portraits of ourselves in self-timer mode – no need to ask for stranger’s help to take out snapshots haha!
12. A small bottle of moisturizing eye drops for tired, dry and irritated eyes.
13. A stick of non-greasy lip moisturizing and sunblock balm (with added Vitamin E too!).
14. Metholated oil in mini bottle for pain and aches, insect bites and nausea..
15. A mini container of preserved fruit slices – excellent for giddiness and discomfort from travelling or a bloated digestive system.
16. A plastic hairbrush, humble but useful.
17. A mini pack of playing cards (an airline freebie!) for spontaneous game of fun and bonding!
Not shown but essential
18. A digital camera for capturing memories and inspiration into still and moving images. Camera is carried on me all the time.
19. A small set of travel notes, maps – folded and kept in side pocket of travel bag.

Hi Dave,
Can check with you on the details of your unisex casual messenger sling bag? Where did you buy it from/ which brand is it? I am looking for one to bring it along to my Taiwan trip as well.
Thanks.
Hi Joyce,
On my last check, the sling messenger bag we bought is running low in stocks. I’m not sure if U can conveniently find it in the stores now as stocks may hv already run out.
Fret not though.
Places U can find a fashionable yet functional carrier for unisex use (so both my wife & I can take turn to carry during touring) are bags & luggages sections of departmental stores, shopping centres etc.
Even where U usually shop for yr fashionwear, if they carry a bag selection, it’s helpful to check that out too.
Tip: Get one that U’ll enjoy carrying around in yr trips AND for casual use at home when not travelling.
Hope this helps.
Dave :-)
