Honeymoon Taipei Day 7. Part 1..

…. Day 7: Taipei Zoo . XiMenDing Lunch . TS Hotel . Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport ….
3 Oct 2006. Last day in Taipei!
We needed to be in the airport before 5pm for the flight home. The bus to take us there would leave our hotel at 3pm. That left us with a quick hour perhaps, to freshen up, pack up, and check out. From this morning till then..
Where do we go to do what – so that we could totally delight ourselves as tourists in this final half day in Taipei?
Days ago, we presented a gift to the Su family upon checking into TS Hotel. In response, Mrs Angela Su and her sister presented us with a pair of thermal mugs this morning! After a good breakfast, we hastened to take the Mrt. Alighting at ZhongXiao FuXing Mrt Station, we transferred into MuZha line, stepping into a feel and atmosphere different altogether.
MuZha line used compact, shorter carriages. Much like the “Skytrains” serving Singapore’s Changi Airport, or the LRT plying the inner routes of Singaporean estates Choa Chu Kang and SengKang.. Enveloping us were neighborhoods and streetlife cosy and relaxed as the mini train brought us to its end stop – Taipei Zoo!
Yes, let’s squeeze in a couple of hours here. Immerse in the thick of a tourist attraction, interact with the locals – before we bid Taipei goodbye..
Were we in luck! It was a Monday. Yet the Zoo was teeming with locals and especially hordes of school-going kids everywhere!
Entry tickets of TWD100 and we entered the bright and airy space.. We took the Mini Train ride up to the Amphibious Reptiles/ Penguin exhibits. The air conditioning was a welcome treat as it was getting warm outside. Scores of pre-teen school kids livened up the place in loud banter as their teachers led them through the exhibits.
From one indoor exhibit to the next, we enjoyed the variety of wildlife the Zoo has. The outdoor exhibits were equally impressive too. With small and select mix of animals housed in clean, modern habitats, some designed to be as close to their natural surroundings as possible.
Read on.. The sun shone fiercely while the hours rushed by. We needed to get back – very soon!
