…. Day 5: YangMingShan National Park: Calla Lilies Farm . XiaoYouKeng . Miramar Entertainment Park: Geant, Carrefour, Ferris Wheel ….
Ready to scale dizzying heights with us today? Let’s go!
A good late hotel breakfast, then we rushed off to ShiLin Mrt Station. Enquired at the Station info counter, then waited obediently under a shelterless bus stop beside the Station for bus Red 5. 15 minutes passed and these two human-sized TianBuLa frying under the scorching sun went asking again.
Oops, were we at the wrong bus stop?! ;-)
Yes, we were! This time we got the bus stop right. At the other end of ShiLin Station was a bus stop outside a Convenience Mart! Clean and cool bus journey of about 30 minutes brought us to..
Lo and behold YangMingShan National Park!
Minutes ago we were in early noon sun and soon we were in cool misty mountains! So grand, beautiful and lots more greenery!
From the bus terminal, we took mini bus 108. Along the journey uphill, the driver spoke the name of each stop so inaudibly, most of the passengers were looking at one another and outside for their stops. It was winding rides going round and round up this humongous mountain!
Precariously, cars would appear through the mist, heading down and straight towards us. Our bus slowed to manoeuvre for both to pass.
From the warm lower parts, we ascended into the misty higher regions. Visibility was near zero in front of the windscreen. Nevertheless, the driver skillfully steered his way avoiding hikers along the road sides, oncoming traffic.. Cool!
Closing my eyes as I was a tad tired from the dizzying yo-yo (and cooling!) ride, the bus continued till we reached.. Yikes! Back where we started – bus terminal haha! Where was ZhuZiHu stop where we would find our destination Calla Lilies Plantation? We re-queued and rode a new bus 108.
Instead of pleading the driver to tell us when to get out (!) hehe, I asked him tourist-style “Sir, does this bus go to ZhuZiHu?”.. Cool trick! Minutes later, driver announced our stop and politely reminded us to alight.. :-)
ZhuZiHu stop was in the lower part, all warm and sunny. We found a sign that showed – there were about 5 lily farms in ZZHu – and all of them were deep inside where we alighted!
Pressing on, we walked about 250 metres ahead, spotting what looked like a neat plantation down in the slopes below. Rows of irrigation works on rectangular land plots..
Read on.. Were the Calla Lilies ahead? What did we found – finally?
