Honeymoon Taipei Day 4. Part 2..
March 30, 2008 by TA
A friend in (great) need!
No signs was around to show the way to the nearest place of relief!
At thrice the speed we hiked up minutes ago, we trodded down to Cable Car Station. It was the nearest place where the crowds were (so would the washroom be located there, we reckoned).
Anyhow, sprinting downhill was that much easier! ;-)
If you’ve missed Part 1 of Day 4..
At Cable Car Station, a clean washroom offered me my critically-needed relief – phew! I then took a good dose of medicine to stop any further runs. Cable Car costs TWD220 per adult but fearing any more panic calls, we did not take the Cars.
We spent close to an hour relaxing at the Station. Wife checked out the souvenirs store while I observed the growing weekends crowds.. Locals began interacting after their pet dogs broke the ice with one another. Amazing! Feeling drained (pardon the pun), I sought a group of cabbies for a ride out of WuLai to XinDian Mrt Station.. A lady cabbie quoted us TWD600 and we were just relieved (pun not intended, again)!
We chatted with the lady cabbie. She was an aborigine staying in WuLai.
Responding to my queries, she revealed that there were about 3 more attractions inside WuLai that we had missed. The only way to reach these attractions was by walking or by cabs, for which the rides would each cost from TWD200-300! She showed us a printed fare guide – from Cable Car Station where we took her cab, the stipulated fare to XinDian Mrt would be TWD800! Bye for now, WuLai, But I will zai lai (come again) to check you out!
We had guessed correctly that touring WuLai would mean more hiking, into deeper terrain. I needed easy and quick access to the washroom so we decided to leave WuLai and continued touring into the city area..
From ZhongXiao-FuXing Mrt Station, we shopped through the underground East Metro Mall till ZhongXiao-DunHua Mrt Station. Strolled at Sogo Departmental Store, where we saw Singapore’s famed RenCi monk with a friend. It was mainly high-end boutiques at Sogo so we crossed streets randomly, searching a place for quick dinner with access to a washroom. We ended up in a crowded store selling Vermicelli Soup.
I ordered Oyster Mee Suah and Mee Fen Soup. Once again, my Mee Fen Soup has just Vermicelli Mee Fen in Soup! Oh no, had we not remember the morning’s Beef Noodles Soup lesson haha! Poor service with equally bland food served! :-(
Along the way back I grabbed a favourite comfort snack – Fried Chicken Parts with Octopus Tentacles TWD100+.. Curiously, a local gal customer kept smiling as she watched this tourist couple chose and bought our food. We wondered why..
During breakfast yesterday, a staff from TS Hotel had alerted me of the day’s headline news. So I bought a “Taipei Times” English Newspaper TWD15 from the FuKeDuo Convenient Mart near TS. I hope to catch the news, to better understand what the staff had shared. Got myself refreshing Red Tea TWD10 and Sour Plum drink TWD25 for wife.
Taking turns for dipping in the bath tub, we snacked and caught a movie on cable tv. To unwind from such an eventful day, we were really glad to chill the evening away in our Hotel Suite! :)
